US President Joe Biden was smiling and took the conversation with a Donald Trump supporter in stride during a visit to a fire station in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, for the 9/11 celebrations.
With a Trump hat in hand, the former President's supporter approached Biden and asked him to sign an autograph, while not sparing a joke about the leader of the White House's problematic memory.
“Will you sign it for me? Do you remember the name?", the supporter of the Republican tycoon joked.
"No, I don't remember, I'm old and slow," was Biden's ironic response.
"You are old," insisted the interlocutor, smiling.
"You know something about being old," Biden retorted, adding: "You remind me of a guy I grew up with in the neighborhood."
The President then takes the Trump supporter's hat to put his signature on it as he says, "I need that hat."
At the end, the president, smiling, places the Trump campaign hat on his head, an action accompanied by his own smile and the applause of those present, while his interlocutor holds the presidential one and tells Biden: "Now I am proud of you , old man".
The president then explained that what happened was "a sign of reduced tensions and unity on a day of mourning and remembrance for the United States."
