"Amendment 14" falls/ the Supreme Court allows Trump to compete in the

The Supreme Court sided with Trump, ruling that a single state does not have the authority to enforce the 14th Amendment and disqualify federal candidates.

The US Supreme Court unanimously ruled that Colorado cannot disqualify former President Trump from the ballot based on the sedition clause of the 14th Amendment. This is a historic decision that gives Trump the opportunity to seek a second presidential term.

Monday's unsigned ruling effectively ends a long-running effort to prevent Trump from returning to the White House, handing a monumental legal victory to the former president on the eve of "Super Tuesday," when he is about to close his nomination within the Republican Party.

Voters and advocacy groups had filed dozens of challenges to Trump's right to run in states across the country, arguing that his actions surrounding the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol bar him from running again.

The Supreme Court sided with Trump, ruling that a single state does not have the authority to enforce the 14th Amendment and disqualify federal candidates.

Meanwhile, former President Donald Trump welcomed the Supreme Court's decision to keep him on the ballot in Colorado, releasing a brief statement on social media.

" Great victory for America! !!” wrote the former president on the "Truth" social network!

While Monday's decision is specific to Colorado, it will set a precedent for other states, including Illinois and Maine, which also barred it from primary ballots.

Last year, Trump was declared ineligible to run for president by the Colorado Supreme Court for his alleged encouragement of the January 6 riots at the Capitol in 2021 and efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election.

Trump appealed the ruling on Jan. 3, and the court heard arguments last month. The Colorado Republican Party had asked the Supreme Court to rule before Tuesday's primary.

Trump did not attend the hearing, but told reporters he listened to the hearing and thought it "was a very nice process," and he thought his team's "arguments were much, much stronger than the opponents'."/ Pamphlet
