Aleksandër Vucic seems to have decided to send the country to early elections.
The Government of Serbia has today sent the President of the Republic a reasoned proposal for the dissolution of the National Assembly and the announcement of elections for deputies.
The letter states that holding new parliamentary elections under existing circumstances would ensure a higher degree of democracy, reducing the tensions created between opposing options in society, rejecting exclusivity and hate speech and affirming the right to express freely express thoughts and views on certain political or economic issues, including the further affirmation of European values, announced the Government of Serbia.
In the proposal for the dissolution of the parliament, among other things, it is stated that recently there have been requests from a part of the public for the announcement of new elections for deputies and that on September 11, 2023, a part of the opposition political parties presented a request to such to the President of the Republic.
Earlier, it was Vučić who warned about the holding of elections. The Serbian leader said in a local media that the elections will most likely be held on December 17, as he added that he will not be part of the campaign due to his busy schedule.
Vucic also has a request for all voters to listen carefully to all the promises that will be made during the campaign and not to fall prey to fraud.
"The elections will be held on December 17, at the request of the opposition, I have fulfilled their request, there will be parliamentary elections. I have so much work and meetings that I won't be able to participate in future campaigns. campaign, so I ask the citizens to be careful, everyone's goal is the overthrow of Serbia, whatever they tell you, the goal is the overthrow of Serbia, not me, because the presidential elections are not going, overthrow all those who want to help Serbia", Vucic said, among other things.
