Billionaire and Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates "sees" most doctors and teachers being replaced by artificial intelligence within the next decade, noting that humans will no longer be needed "for most things."
In an interview on NBC's "The Tonight Show," Gates said that right now we still rely on people in many areas. We rely, for example, on a "great doctor" or a "great teacher," he said.
But "with artificial intelligence, in the next decade, this will be free, we will have great medical advice and great lessons," he added, as reported by CNBC News.
In other words, the world is entering a new era, which Gates called "free intelligence" in another interview with Harvard University professor Arthur Brooks. As he claims, the result will be rapid progress in technologies supported by artificial intelligence and is expected to be accessible and "touch" almost every aspect of our lives, as the billionaire declared.
"It's a profound and a little scary change, because it's happening so fast and there's no limit," Gates noted.
And while entire industries have already begun to sound the alarm about losing their jobs, Gates is optimistic about the overall benefits that artificial intelligence can offer humanity, such as "revolutionary treatments for deadly diseases, innovative solutions to climate change, and high-quality education for all."
As he says, some jobs will likely never be replaced by AI, noting that people probably won't want to see machines playing baseball.
