Greek government increases minimum wage, Albanian immigrants also benefit

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has announced that he will increase the minimum wage from 830 euros to 880 euros. He said that he aims for the minimum wage to reach 950 euros by the end of his four-year term.

Mitsotakis referred to the decrease in the unemployment rate, emphasizing that the job creation policy has begun to bear fruit.

Social assistance for the unemployed has also increased, with the amount increasing to 540 euros. The salary for married employees with three years of experience has also increased. They will receive 1,258.4 euros, while unskilled workers will receive 39.4 euros per day. These changes will come into effect on April 1.

This is the 5th increase in the base wage since 2019. The cumulative increase over six years amounts to 35.4%. The gain for workers is now equivalent to approximately 5 additional 2019 minimum wages per year.

All Albanian immigrants who live and work regularly in the Greek state also benefit from these increases.
