Members of US President Donald Trump's Peace Council have pledged more than $5 billion (around €4.6 billion) in aid to Gaza. The news was announced by Trump himself in a post on his social network Truth Social.
According to the US president, the funding will be officially announced on February 19, 2026 in Washington, during a meeting at the Donald J. Trump Institute of Peace.
“On February 19, 2026, I will rejoin the members of the Peace Board at the Donald J. Trump Institute of Peace in Washington, D.C., where we will announce that member states have pledged more than $5 billion for humanitarian and reconstruction efforts in Gaza and have committed thousands of personnel to the International Stabilization Force and Local Police to maintain security and peace for the people of Gaza,” Trump wrote.
He also stressed that it is very important that Hamas continue its commitment to complete and immediate demilitarization. Trump called the Peace Board “the most important international body in history,” adding that it is “my honor to serve as its chairman.”
Trump declared that the initiative has "unlimited potential" and recalled that last October he had published a plan for a permanent end to the conflict in Gaza, which, according to him, was unanimously approved by the UN Security Council.
He added that after this, humanitarian aid was facilitated and the release of hostages was secured, while in Davos the Board's vision for Gaza and beyond, towards "world peace", was officially presented.
