A serious incident rocked Moscow in the early hours of Thursday, when 36-year-old Russian businessman Alexey Dolgikh lost his life after a luxury vehicle accident. Dolgikh, known for his cryptocurrency investments, was traveling with three friends in a Lamborghini Urus when the car overturned and burst into flames.
According to police, Dolgikh was driving at speeds of over 150 km/h on the Russian capital's international highway. Security camera footage shows that he lost control on a curve, crashed into protective barriers and then the vehicle overturned and caught fire.
Passenger Ivan Solovyov also died in the accident, while two others, Nikita Tezhikov, 21, and Kiril Mokhalov, 22, were taken to Botkin Hospital with fractures and serious injuries. Footage from the scene showed the luxury SUV overturned and engulfed in flames, with ruble banknotes scattered on the road.
Authorities suspect that excessive speed was the main cause of the accident and the prosecutor's office has launched a full investigation into the incident. Dolgikh, whose fortune is estimated at several million dollars, had a long history of traffic violations, having been recorded 586 times for speeding since he bought the Lamborghini about 15 months ago.
The same vehicle was also involved in a shooting incident last September outside a luxury restaurant in Moscow, but Dolgikh denied any involvement at the time and no charges were filed against him.
This is the second case of the death of a Russian cryptocurrency investor under tragic circumstances in recent weeks, attracting widespread attention in the country's media.
