Donald Trump has criticized the opening ceremony of last week's Olympic Games in Paris, describing it as "disgraceful".
Olympic organizers have been forced to apologize to anyone who was offended by a painting that evoked Leonardo da Vinci's "Last Supper", which depicts the moment when Jesus Christ declared that an apostle would betray him.
The stage during Friday's ceremony featured DJ and producer Barbara Butch, an LGBTQ+ icon, surrounded by artists and dancers. Religious conservatives from around the world condemned the segment and were recently joined by Donald Trump.
"I think the opening ceremony was a shame, actually. It was embarrassing," the former president told Fox.
Speaking about the opening ceremony of the 2028 Olympic Games to be held in Los Angeles, Trump added: " We are not going to have a Last Supper as they (the French) portrayed it." It seemed terrible to me. Look, I'm very open-minded, but I thought what they did was a shame."
Even the Bishops' Conference of the French Catholic Church condemned the "mock scenes" which they said made a mockery of Christianity.
