Families of those trapped under the rubble still hold out hope, as time to find survivors is running out.
Rescue teams are racing against time to reach people trapped under rubble after two deadly earthquakes in Venezuela. Meanwhile, family members are reporting increasingly that they hear the voices of their loved ones under the rubble but are unable to help them.
According to the BBC, one such case is that of Andreina Valerios, who rushed from work on the day of the earthquakes to find her 2-year-old son. The child was at her partner's parents' house, along with his father.
When she arrived at the scene, she found only the ruins of the building. Her brother-in-law, Samuel Mendoza, was searching through the rubble for family members. Andreina Valerio spoke to the BBC on Saturday, near the collapsed building.
She said her son and partner remain trapped under the rubble, along with his parents, grandparents and partner's sister. However, she has not lost hope. Andreina and Samuel said other children are also trapped in the building: a 9-year-old boy named Lucas and a 3-year-old girl named Aranza.
Against impossible odds, hope endures. ????????

Rescue teams from El Salvador and Spain arrived in the area on Saturday but were unable to enter the building. Up until that point, no one had been pulled out alive from the building.
Samuel Mendoza said that the first morning after the earthquakes, he heard a woman calling for help. “I heard a woman's voice. At first I didn't understand what she was saying. The only word I made out was 'help,'” he said.
A day later, Andreina said she heard a baby crying.
"I continue to believe that my son is alive. I believe that he is the one I hear. I know that my son will make it, and so will his family," she said.
"Hope is the only thing left"
Andreina and Samuel are just two of the survivors searching for their relatives among the rubble and continuing to hope that they will be rescued, even though as the days pass, the chances of finding survivors diminish.

In the coastal area of La Guaira, one of the regions hardest hit by the earthquakes, family members are digging through the rubble with their bare hands. Many have set up camps near collapsed buildings where they believe their loved ones are.
They are exhausted from lack of sleep and their voices have become hoarse from constantly calling out to the ruins, trying to get a response from the survivors.
Sky News correspondent in Caracas, James Matthews, reported that hopes of finding survivors are fading.
“Families have been gathering on this street since Wednesday’s earthquakes, waiting for live news. On the weekend after the disaster, they know they are already hoping for a miracle. But here, hope is the only thing they have left,” he said. /Adapted from Pamphlet /
