The private jet that crashed in Russia and killed Wagner mercenary group leader Yevgeny Prigozhin and 9 others was an Embraer Legacy 600.
The Brazil-based company began operations in 2002 and has since produced 300 private jets.
The model owned by Prigozhin was one of the best in terms of safety and so far there has been only one accident in 20 years.
According to the International Aviation HQ website, the only incident with the Embraer Legacy 600 happened in 2006 and was actually a matter of human error rather than a mechanical problem.
The Embraer company recently stated that it has information about the crash of an aircraft manufactured by it in Russia, but did not provide details.
Meanwhile, witnesses at the scene indicate that before the crash of the plane Prigozhin was traveling in, two loud explosions were heard, which add to the suspicion that he may have been targeted by anti-aircraft weapons.
Wagner's boss Yevgeny Prigozhin appeared yesterday in his first video communication since his failed rebellion in Russia.
From the footage it was understood that he was in Africa, while today he died in a plane crash in Russia. The video posted on Telegram channels linked to the Wagner mercenary group showed Prigozhin with combat equipment, saying that the group is making Africa "more free". Wagner is believed to have thousands of fighters on the continent, where he has lucrative business interests.
Prigozhin, 7 passengers and 3 crew members were on board the Embraer plane, which was traveling from Moscow to St. Petersburg, the TASS news agency reported. All lost their lives. The plane is said to have crashed in the Tver region, north of Moscow.
