Heavy rains have lashed the United Arab Emirates, flooding major highways and disrupting flights at Dubai International Airport.
This records the highest amount of rainfall in the last 75 years in this country.
The United Arab Emirates recorded its heaviest rainfall in a 24-hour period as of 9 p.m. Tuesday since records began in 1949, according to the National Meteorological Center.
The center said 254 mm of rain was recorded in less than 24 hours in Al Ain, part of the emirate of Abu Dhabi that borders Oman.
City streets have turned into 'rivers' as rushing water has flooded towns and businesses.
A video is circulating online as Dubai International Airport is under water. Large planes look like 'boats' 'sailing' through the flooded airport.
Flights were canceled or diverted due to weather. Flydubai canceled all flights until 10am local time on Wednesday, while Emirates reported flight delays.
