Western Balkans analyst and policy expert, Dusan Janic, has stated that the United States of America is expected to present an official document aimed at mutual recognition between Kosovo and Serbia.
According to Janić, there is already an American draft, which asks Serbia to recognize Kosovo as an independent state. He emphasized that this time it is not a "non-paper", a term that is often used in the Balkan context, but a document with an institutional basis in the United States.
"I stand by what I said, but there are some changes. The term 'non-paper' is famous for the Balkans and is often used, including by Aleksandar Vučić or other political actors. But this time I spoke about American experts or congressmen who are using concrete bases for the future dialogue. According to the information I have, the American Congress has accepted the law on the Western Balkans, which clearly states that an agreement on mutual recognition between Kosovo and Serbia must be reached ," Janić declared on the Balkan Talks show on Euronews Albania.
The Serbian analyst had previously warned that the US could present this document in March or April of this year. According to him, the document will not be informal, which, as he said, has caused concern and fear in Serbian political circles.
" According to the information I have, this document will not be non-paper, and this is precisely what has scared the Serbs ," he stressed.
