Two explosions were reported in Iran today, with the regime denying that a military leader was the target of the attacks. One explosion occurred in the southern Iranian port of Bandar Abbas, killing a four-year-old girl and wounding 14 others.
A second explosion, more than 1,000 kilometers away in Ahvaz, killed four people, local officials said. Israel has denied involvement in both explosions, with a fire department official reportedly saying the explosion in Bandar Abbas was caused by a gas leak.
Reports on social media claiming that a Revolutionary Guard navy commander was targeted in the explosion in Bandar Abbas are "completely false," the semi-official Tasnim news agency said.
The explosion hit an eight-story building, causing serious damage to the first floors. Gulf Radio reported that several cars and a shop were also damaged. Rescue and fire crews are believed to be at the scene.
The cause of the explosion is still unknown. The crisis management authority for Hormozgan province said in a post on Telegram: "The cause of this incident is under investigation and the results will be announced later by official authorities."
Footage filmed by Fars shows the aftermath of the explosion, with glass and rubble scattered on the ground.
