Mario Paglicci and Fulvio Casini, two Italian businessmen, have disappeared after their private helicopter crashed.
The incident occurred yesterday, but search and rescue teams found the wreckage of the helicopter this morning in a mountainous area on the border between Marche and Tuscany in Italy.
Mario Paglicci was a well-known goldsmith from Arezzo, while his friend Fulvio Casini was a successful entrepreneur in the field of real estate construction.
Both were united by a passion for flying and were considered experienced.
The hypothesis is that the two pilots had somehow attempted a forced landing, but failed.
Italian media reports that there is very little hope of finding the two businessmen alive.
Rescue teams arrived at the scene after several hours of walking through the forest on the ridge between Borgo Pace and Badia Tedalda, which lies between the regions of Tuscany and Marche. The cause of the incident is under investigation.
Meanwhile, the family of missing businessman Mario Paglicci has reacted, thanking all law enforcement and volunteers for their efforts in the search and recovery of their loved one.
The statement was made by his children Gianluca and Maria, his brother Giancarlo and his grandchildren Paolo, Silvia and Alessandra.
" I am at peace, because Uncle Mario passed away with his dream: his beloved helicopter. He wanted to fly higher and higher in life and work. He was a teacher of life. Now it is our moral duty to continue flying and dreaming with him, " says his granddaughter Alessandra.
