The UN has declared that the situation in Gaza has reached "even more unprecedented levels of emergency", with all crossings delivering food to Rafah closed.
Speaking from Rafah via video link during a UN conference, the head of the UN office in Gaza, Georgios Petropoulos, said that since the latest evacuation order by the Israeli government, some 110,000 people have been displaced, most of them for the fifth or sixth time.
" The closure of the vital crossing has cut off access to fuel, supplies and the movement of humanitarian personnel ," Petropoulos said, adding that it has also affected the movement of any civilian or medical evacuations.
If a lasting solution is not found soon, Petropoulos warned that UN aid activities will end within the next two days.
“ In terms of food, WFP and UNWRA will run out of food for distribution in the south by tomorrow. This means that people will be left with only what has been distributed in their shelters and in the country ," he said.
It is unclear how much aid is entering Gaza since the closure of Kerem Shalom last week and Israel's seizure of the Rafah crossing on Tuesday.
