
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has stated that the war in Iran has begun to negatively affect Europe, during a telephone conversation with his German counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier, international media report.
According to a statement released by the Turkish president's office on social media, the two leaders held a conversation on Wednesday, where they discussed relations between the two countries, as well as the ongoing conflicts in Iran and Ukraine.
The statement said that Erdogan stressed that the escalation of the war in the region is also beginning to weaken Europe, warning that if the situation is not addressed with a peace-oriented approach, the consequences of this period of conflict could be even more severe.
"President Erdoğan emphasized that the war in our region has begun to weaken Europe as well and that, if this trend is not addressed with a peace-oriented approach, the damage caused by this period of conflict will be much greater," the statement said.
