The United States has announced that it has prevented the movement of 31 ships heading towards Iran, as part of its naval blockade measures in the region.
The US Central Command announced that it had ordered the ships to change course or return to their ports of departure, describing the action as part of a “blockade of Iran.” According to the official statement, most of the ships involved were oil tankers and had complied with the instructions of the US authorities.
The Strait of Hormuz, one of the most important sea routes for energy transport in the world, remains at the center of developments.
For his part, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian considered this blockade one of the "main obstacles" to the development of genuine negotiations with the United States.
Meanwhile, the White House spokeswoman stated that Donald Trump is "pleased" with the measure taken, describing the blockade as "effective and successful."
