His most frequent contact was Sergei Belyakov, a senior Russian official trained at the Academy of the FSB (Federal Security Service), the successor to the Soviet KGB. Jeffrey Epstein met with him several times and maintained a close correspondence with him.
In an email dated January 2016, titled "My New Function," Belyakov informs the American that he had started working at the Russian Direct Investment Fund, headed by Kirill Dmitriev, currently the Kremlin's emissary to the US administration to end Russia's war against Ukraine.

In 2016, she started working in public relations and counted Jeffrey Epstein among her clients, although the nature of her work for him remains unclear. Based in the United States since 2017, Maria Drokova has made a name for herself there by, among other things, injecting the capital of several Russian oligarchs into American Silicon Valley companies, which has raised suspicions among Western services about a possible transfer of technologies to Russia. She currently runs Day One Venture, a venture capital fund that she created in San Francisco (California) with funds from several countries.
