The Ghana Armed Forces said two of its soldiers serving with UNIFIL, the United Nations peacekeeping mission in Lebanon, were "seriously injured" after their position was fired upon with rockets on Friday.
In a statement released on X, the Ghanaian Army said their headquarters in southern Lebanon was attacked with two missiles within less than 10 minutes on Friday evening.
"Two soldiers were seriously injured, while another was traumatized. In addition, the officers' canteen was also hit and completely burned ," the statement said, adding that the wounded are being treated.
The statement did not specify whether the rockets were fired by Israel or Hezbollah, but instead attributed them to "current exchanges between the Israel Defense Forces and Hezbollah." The Ghana Armed Forces added that they had registered a formal complaint with the UN headquarters in New York.
Meanwhile, French President Emmanuel Macron condemned the Israeli attack that hit a United Nations (UN) headquarters in Lebanon earlier today.
" While the United Nations Force in Lebanon plays a key stabilizing role in southern Lebanon, I strongly condemn the unacceptable attack that struck members of its contingent today ," Macron said.
After speaking with Syrian President Ahmad Al-Charaa and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, he also reiterated the need to respect the "sovereignty and territorial integrity" of both nations.
"Continued destabilizations leave no room for terrorism. France will ensure this ," Macron vows.
