The Israel Defense Forces' top official in charge of operations in the Palestinian territories, Ghassan Aliyan, has threatened the people of Gaza and the leadership of Hamas, condemning Palestinian popular support for the terrorist group.
"Kidnapping, abusing and killing children, women and the elderly is inhumane. There is no excuse for this. Hamas has turned into ISIS and the people of Gaza, instead of fearing, are celebrating. There will be no electricity and water in Gaza, only destruction. You wanted hell, you will get hell", he said.
The Palestinian armed organization Hamas launched a barrage of rockets from the Gaza Strip against the southern Israeli coastal city of Ashkelon this morning. According to the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, a hotel in this city was hit by rockets.
Earlier, the spokesman for the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades, Abu Obaydah, the armed wing of Hamas, warned Ashkelon residents that they must leave the city by 5 p.m.
