The British Ministry of Defense said it is deploying the new system in the Middle East to protect the United Kingdom's citizens and partners in the Middle East from drone attacks.
The Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System (APKWS) will be installed on RAF Typhoon fighter jets to enable them to destroy targets with precision. APKWS is a low-cost version, costing only a fraction of the price of missiles currently in use.
"This has been an excellent effort working with industry to test and deploy this system within a few months, which will help the RAF shoot down many more drones at a much lower cost. Our Typhoon fleet is the backbone of the UK and NATO air defence, with the RAF defending the eastern flank of Europe from Russian drone incursions and protecting our partners across the Middle East ," the British Ministry of Defence said in a statement.
