Pope Francis has commented on the war between Israel and Palestine as well as the loss of many lives during the attacks that occur in Gaza. He said that war destroys everything including humanity.
During his address to the audience with Charis, the Pope also recalled the meeting with Israeli President Shimon Peres and Palestinian Authority leader Abu Mazen in 2014 at the Vatican.
"War destroys everything, it takes humanity. War also destroys the memory of the steps taken towards peace," the Pope said.
The Pope then recalled the Mass he celebrated last November 2 at the military cemetery.
"When I entered, I looked at the ages of the fallen on the graves: all young, from 20 to 30 years old. War «destroys youth. Please, let's fight for peace, don't let this memory of peace be stolen from us", concluded Pope Francis.
