When it comes to food, some say "you are what you eat".
So what do you eat to stay young?
46-year-old biotech entrepreneur Brian Johnson is spending up to $2 million a year on an intensive treatment called "Project Blueprint" in an attempt to reverse his age.
And as part of this project, he follows a strict plant-based diet.
Johnson usually starts his days with a "Green Giant" smoothie, as he calls it, loaded with supplements. For lunch, he might have a bowl full of vegetables. And for dessert, I eat fruit and nut pudding.
In total, I get "about 1,977 calories a day," he said.
Johnson and his team of health experts designed his "diet recipes based on what the body needs," Johnson told Business Insider via email.
"Every calorie had to be counted."
"The recipes helped me stop craving fast food," he said.
In addition to his diet, Johnson takes dozens of nutritional supplements, works out every day and undergoes regular medical tests, including blood tests and MRIs. His desire for youth even took him to a remote Caribbean island to undergo a special gene therapy at $25,000 per dose.
Johnson and his team of doctors said Project Blueprint helped him have the skin of a 28-year-old, the heart of a 37-year-old and the lung capacity of an 18-year-old.
These claims have not been physically verified and are causing concern and heated debate about what exactly "biological age" is.
Johnson recently posted a video on his YouTube channel where he explains step-by-step some of his favorite recipes that he claims are anti-aging.
