The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina confirmed on September 11 the indictment prepared against Milorad Dodik and Milosh Lukic. This is what this institution told the Balkan Service of Radio Free Europe.
The President of Republika Srpska, Dodik, and the acting director of the Official Gazette of this entity, Lukić, are accused of criminal offenses for not implementing the decisions of the high international representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Dodik's lawyer, Goran Bubiq, told REL that he will plead to the indictment after the authorities hand it over to him. He said that he has read in the media that the indictment has been filed, but there is no official information about it.
The Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina filed the indictment against Dodik and Lukic on August 11 and sent it to the Court for confirmation. But, on August 18, the Court asked the Prosecution to make some changes in the indictment.
On August 24, the Court accepted the amended indictment against Dodik and Lukic. The indictment came after the Republika Srpska National Assembly passed two controversial laws on June 27, which Dodik signed and then published in the Republika Srpska Official Gazette.
These laws state that the decisions of the Office of the High Representative in Bosnia will no longer be published in the Official Gazette and will not be respected in this entity. Also, the decisions of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina will no longer be valid in the Republika Srpska.
The High Representative in Bosnia, Christian Schmidt, on July 1 reversed these decisions. Officials in Republika Srpska, led by Dodik, have said Schmidt lacks legitimacy because he has not been nominated by the United Nations Security Council, which has been opposed by China and Russia.
