  Half a ton of cocaine in "Budva": Montenegrin network in the hands of

The Montenegrin ship "Budva" was seized with 509 kg of cocaine in Hamburg. The criminal organization led by Radoman and his group at the center of the scandal.

 An international operation against drug trafficking has led to the discovery and investigation of a Montenegrin criminal network, who are accused of trafficking half a ton of cocaine, seized on board the Montenegrin ship "Budva" in the port of Hamburg, Germany.

The High Court in Podgorica has confirmed the indictment against 7 defendants, who are accused of creating a criminal organization and trafficking in narcotics.

Among them is Vladan Radomana, the suspected leader of the group, who, according to investigations, organized the transport of drugs from Latin America via sea routes to Europe.

The drugs were discovered by German authorities on May 2, 2020 in Hamburg, where they were found hidden in "glow-in-the-dark" bags, specifically designed to evade detection. This sophisticated method demonstrates the high level of planning and technology used by Balkan criminal groups.

The ship "Budva", owned by the Montenegrin state, was used by the group as a means of transport to disguise illegal activity on sea routes. In addition to drug trafficking, one of the defendants is also accused of illegal possession of weapons and possession of explosives.

 This case puts the Western Balkans back in the spotlight as a key hub for international drug trafficking. European ports like Hamburg have become strategic destinations for criminal networks linked to groups from Montenegro, Serbia, Albania and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The "war on statements" approach is failing. In the absence of enhanced inter-police cooperation, such networks continue to operate with great logistical and corruptive capacities.

This case demonstrates the necessity for:

-Independent investigations and real cooperation with EU authorities and INTERPOL;
-Severing the links between politics, crime and institutional corruption;
-Strengthening control over maritime transport and auditing state property used in traffic.

The "Budva" case is not just a criminal case, but an alarm signal for the entire region. Only an independent judiciary and a rule of law can stop the spread of this criminal epidemic that is being wrapped in the flag of the state and the suit of legal business./ Pamphlet
