Among the members of the delegation attacked at Hamas headquarters in Doha was Hamas leader in Gaza, Khalil al-Hayya.
It is also believed that senior Hamas figures were present during the attack on the headquarters: Zaher Jabarin, who leads Hamas in the West Bank, Muhammad Darwish, head of Hamas's Shura Council, and Khaled Mashaal, head of Hamas abroad.
Saudi Arabia's Al-Arabiya and Al-Hadath reported the killings, citing their sources. However, Hamas sources denied the killings via Al Jazeera.
The official statement states that the attack was "precise", aimed at hitting the organization's leadership, while controlled ammunition was used to minimize damage to civilians.
The explosions were first reported by journalist Barak Ravid of Axios.
Reuters reported testimony from citizens who saw plumes of smoke rising over the Katara district, a popular area of the Qatari capital.
