A 39-year-old woman was executed inside a Mexican hospital where she was being treated after surviving a previous assassination attempt a few days earlier.
The executioner appears to have been determined to see his 'contract' through to the end, going to the hospital, disguised as a nurse, and committing the crime.
Wendy Martinez was admitted to Tijuana General Hospital on May 20 with gunshot wounds to her right arm, abdomen and knee after an attack.
The woman told investigators after the attempted murder that she was attacked after telling a drug trafficking gang she was not interested in working for them, local reports said. But on May 23, she was shot by someone who managed to bypass hospital security and enter her room.

According to witnesses, the gunman waited outside the emergency room and then went inside, shot the woman and disappeared.
Security cameras recorded part of the attack and the images were also shared on social media, prompting the immediate mobilization of security forces.
The victim belonged to a criminal group linked to drug trafficking control in the city. So far, no suspects have been arrested and the State Investigation Agency is continuing its investigations.
