Hamas has suspended negotiations for Israeli hostages this afternoon. Hamas announced it was suspending hostage negotiations because of Israel's treatment of people at al-Shifa hospital in Gaza.
Hamas leaders have long demanded a cease-fire from Israel in exchange for negotiations for the release of the hostages, but this has been rejected by Israel.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made it clear that his country would not accept such a thing without the release of all the people taken hostage by Hamas during the October 7 attack. He also rejected international calls for a ceasefire and said Israel will fight with all its might against Hamas.
As the Israeli army continues to strike Gaza City from the air, its ground forces clashed with Hamas militants near the region's largest hospital, Al Shifa. Residents in Gaza reported airstrikes near Al Shifa city's largest hospital on Sunday. On the other hand, Israel says that the Palestinian militant group Hamas has built a command in and under the hospital premises, accusations that have been denied by Hamas and the medical staff.
