Despite the US throwing out the possibility of the Palestinian Authority taking a role in managing Gaza after the war, Israel appears to have other plans and opposes doing so.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has given details about the situation created in Gaza by his army's attacks and post-war plans.
In an interview with CNN, Netanyahu tried to deflect responsibility for the hospital attacks, saying that Israel is helping patients by creating safe corridors between the fighting on the ground. He accused Hamas of using civilians as shields, while stressing that he sees no reason why it cannot evacuate patients from hospitals.
" We have designated a route to a safe area south of Gaza City. We want all civilians out of harm's way. But Hamas is doing everything in its power to keep them on the wrong path. We we have called to evacuate all patients from that hospital (Al-Shifa, Gaza's largest) and about 100 have already been evacuated. There is no reason why we cannot get patients out of there," Netanyahu told CNN.
Israel earlier announced a corridor near Al-Shifa, but the International Committee of the Red Cross said it could not confirm any evacuations had taken place.
Further, to justify his deadly attack on Gaza, Netanyahu said he was doing the same thing the US would do in the same situation.
" She would take all her strength and go after these killers ," he said.
When asked about Israel's post-war plans for Gaza, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu appeared to rule out handing over control to the Palestinian Authority (PA), saying the organization had failed to "demilitarize" and "deradicalize" Gaza in the past.
He told CNN that Israel's first priority was to destroy Hamas, as he added that after that Israel will deploy its troops in Gaza, under the pretext of avoiding the resurgence of terrorism.
" A civilian authority should cooperate on two goals; one is the demilitarization of Gaza and the second is the deradicalization of Gaza. And I have to say that the Palestinian Authority has failed miserably on both counts. We will establish a civilian authority in Gaza to avoid falling down the same rabbit hole. We must give Gaza a better future, let's not lead it to a failed past," Netanyahu said, among other things .

Netanyahu, on the other hand, refused to answer whether he would take responsibility for the failure to prevent the October 7 attack on Israel, saying there would be time for such "difficult" questions after the war is over.
" We will answer all these questions. Right now, I think what we need to do is to unite the country for one goal; to achieve victory. Let's focus on victory - that's my responsibility now " , he said.
As for the hostage situation, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told CNN that he is doing everything he can all the time to free the more than 200 hostages held by Hamas.
" This is one of our two goals of the war. One is to destroy Hamas and the second is to return our hostages ," he said.
In conclusion, he said that the whole world should join Israel in the effort to release the hostages, as he added that the ceasefire will be considered only when the hostages are released./CNN
