
A strong earthquake with a magnitude of 5.2 on the Richter scale was recorded in the early hours of this morning with an epicenter in the maritime area near Nea Stiri, Evia, according to the Geodynamic Institute of the National Observatory of Athens.
The earthquake was felt in many areas of the country, while for the residents of Nea Styra and Attica, the seconds that the seismic tremor lasted were nightmarish.
Specifically, in Nea Styra, residents came out of their homes, while many stayed in their cars until dawn. The earthquake caused concern among residents of Attica, resulting in many citizens taking to the streets.

It should be noted that the earthquake, according to reports from residents to EMSC, was felt in Kalamata, Patras and Volos.
According to a revised solution by the Geodynamic Institute, the epicenter was located 5 kilometers west-northwest of Nea Styra, Evia, and the focal depth was 13.6 kilometers.
The 5.2 magnitude earthquake was followed by at least 17 aftershocks with magnitudes ranging from 1.6 to 2.8 on the Richter scale.
