
Terminal 4 at London's Heathrow Airport has been evacuated after a suspected incident involving hazardous materials, causing an alert and travel disruptions.
Airport spokespeople confirmed that the check-in area has been closed while emergency services are on the scene. Passengers have been warned not to travel to Terminal 4 until the situation is clarified. All other terminals at the airport are operating normally.
A spokesman for the London Fire Brigade said: “Firefighters are responding to a possible hazardous materials incident at Heathrow Airport. Specialist teams have been dispatched to assess the situation, and part of the airport has been evacuated as a precaution.”
The alert was issued at around 17:01 local time, with teams from Feltham, Heathrow, Wembley and other nearby stations taking part in the operation. Footage shared on social media showed dozens of ambulances stationed outside Terminal 4.
Meanwhile, National Rail has announced that trains are not stopping at Heathrow Terminal 4 due to the intervention of emergency services.
Authorities have not yet provided details about the nature of the suspected substance or any possible injuries.
