The sister of a notorious kickboxer nicknamed 'The Punisher' has vowed revenge after he was shot dead in an underground car park.
Sam Abdulrahim was returning with his girlfriend to the Preston Quest Hotel, Melbourne, when he was shot dead.
It is suspected that the victim had made many enemies over the years and was living in hiding after being the target of several gunshots or attacks aimed at his elimination.
He told Daily Mail Australia a while back that he "wasn't scared, he wasn't afraid of anything. He always said 'when my time comes, my time comes.'"
His sister, Ektimal, has now vowed to avenge his death, saying: "Whoever killed my brother will have me after him."
Abdulrahim was in a relationship with Married at First Sight star Jessica Power, who burst into tears after the news.
The pair met in 2019, shortly after his release from prison, where he was serving a sentence for a fatal accident.
Shortly after Abdulrahim's death, loved ones gathered to pay their respects. Police also believe the burning of a car near the Reservoir area is related to the crime.
The white Porsche SUV that was found burned is believed to be the car used by the perpetrators. Abdulrahim has been targeted several times in the past and has miraculously survived each time.
One of his relatives was held at gunpoint late last year and released in exchange for $150,000 at the time.
Abdulrahim was also attacked on his first day in prison, July 3, 2019. He was also shot 8 times after leaving a cemetery following his cousin's funeral in June 2022.
In February last year, a venue where a boxing match that Abdulrahim was scheduled to take part in was engulfed in flames.
His parents' apartment and cars were also engulfed in flames a short time later.
Then, in another assassination attempt, he was shot 17 times.
The gunmen returned a few weeks later and shot at his house again, but this time Abdulrahim was not inside.
During a press conference, Inspector Dean Thomas said that threats had been made against Abdulrahim since 2016 and that he had been spoken to about his safety in the past.
Victoria Police said in a statement that "emergency services were called to reports that a man had been shot in a car park on High Street in Preston shortly after 10.30am on Tuesday, January 28.
The man, who has not yet been officially identified, died at the scene. Police have cordoned off the area and are on the scene.
"At this early stage, police believe the victim was targeted."
