The Lebanese militia Hezbollah declared that Iran will not sign the final nuclear deal with the United States unless Israel completely withdraws from Lebanese territory.
According to Hezbollah's media relations office, which spoke to Reuters, Tehran has given clear guarantees about this position. Hezbollah stressed that the Israeli withdrawal is not a precondition for the start of the second round of talks, which is expected to begin with the signing of a framework agreement between the US and Iran.
"There will be no nuclear agreement between Iran and the United States if the Israelis do not withdraw," Iranian representatives said.
The statement comes at a time of heightened tension. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu yesterday rejected any possibility of an immediate withdrawal of Israeli forces from occupied areas in Lebanon, stressing that the Israeli army will remain there "for as long as necessary for Israel's security."
Meanwhile, Israeli forces have intensified military operations. New airstrikes have hit several areas in the Nabatieh district in southern Lebanon, Al Jazeera reported. Israeli artillery has also targeted the Ali al-Taher area in the same region.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has yet to officially comment on the latest attacks. US President Donald Trump, speaking on the situation, said Israel has been fighting Hezbollah “for a long time” and called on Israeli leaders, especially Benjamin Netanyahu, to be “more responsible.”
