The spokesman of the Israeli army, Daniel Hagari, in a media communication, has warned that Iran will suffer the consequences if it further escalates the situation.
His video message comes after Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy hijacked an Israeli-bound container ship near the Strait of Hormuz. However, the incident is not directly mentioned in Hagar's message.
"Iran has supported Hamas in the war. Iran-backed Hezbollah expanded this war on October 8; and since then, Iranian-backed militias in Iraq and Syria have expanded this into a global conflict. Iran is the world's largest state sponsor of terror. His terror network not only threatens the people of Israel, Gaza, Lebanon and Syria; the regime in Iran instigates the war in Ukraine and beyond," said Hagari.
Israel has been on high alert for a possible Iranian attack since two Iranian generals were killed in an airstrike in the Syrian capital Damascus last week.
Iran has blamed Israel for the attack and vowed retaliation. Israel has not commented on the attack.
