Renowned billionaire Elon Musk addressed President Trump and his team, saying that the department he heads will continue to drastically reduce federal spending.
Musk stressed that if America does not do this, the country risks going bankrupt due to its large debt.
He said he has received numerous death threats over federal spending cuts and the role he has taken in the Trump administration. The billionaire added that despite the criticism and threats, his goal is to save America from bankruptcy.
“The main goal here with the DOGE team is to help address the massive deficit. We simply cannot sustain a $2 trillion deficit as a country. The interest rate, just the interest on the national debt, now exceeds the Department of Defense spending. We spend a lot on the Department of Defense, but we are spending over a trillion dollars on interest. If this continues, the country will de facto go bankrupt. It is not an optional thing, it is an essential thing. That is why I am here, and I am getting a lot of criticism and death threats to be honest. If we do not do this, America will go bankrupt. That is why it has to be done,” Musk said during President Trump’s first Cabinet meeting.
