The situation in the Gaza Strip is worsening. Hamas has launched a new rocket attack against Israel, after the deadly one in the morning.
The Izzedine al Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, says it fired another 150 rockets this evening at Tel Aviv, Israel.
The group said this was in response to the bombing of a residential tower in central Gaza City, via a Telegram post.
"Now that the occupier has bombed the Palestinian Tower in the middle of Gaza City, Tel Aviv must stand on one foot and wait for our devastating response," Abu Obaida, spokesman for the AlQassam Brigades, said on Telegram.
The attack has also been confirmed by Israel's Magen David Adom (MDA) rescue service. "Following red alert sirens in the last few minutes, Magen David Adom teams are conducting searches in areas where rocket strikes have been reported," the organization said Saturday evening. It listed Tel Aviv, Rishon Letzion and Bat Yam as the affected areas.
CNN reporters on the ground sirens and more than a dozen loud explosions are heard throughout Tel Aviv.
According to CNN, it is not clear whether the loud explosions were from Israel's anti-missile systems or the sound of militant rockets falling on Tel Aviv. Deir um tnbai confirmed that nearly 150 Israelis and 200 Palestinians died in the clash.
Tensions between Israel and the Palestinians have existed since before the nation's founding in 1948. Thousands of people on both sides have been killed and many more injured in the long-simmering conflict between the two sides over the past decades.
Violence has increased especially this year. The number of Palestinians killed in the West Bank occupied by Israeli forces is at its highest level in nearly two decades.
