The head of the Wagner group, Yevgeny Prigozhin, seems to be trying a new technique to win the trust of the Russian president, Vladmir Putin, and at the same time to climb the ladder of success in the Kremlin. He is apparently trying to create a divide between Putin and his generals.
In a series of audio messages over two days, Prigozhin escalated his repeated criticism of Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov.
Meanwhile, in the message addressed to Putin, Prigozhin has accused the Russian military chiefs of having lied to the president about the extent of losses on the ground.
" Total garbage is being dumped on the president's desk. Shoigu and Gerasimov have a simple approach: The lie must be monstrous for people to believe it. This is what they are doing. Everything is being hidden from everyone. Russia will wake up one day and learn that the Russian-annexed Crimea has been handed over to the Ukrainians. They are deceiving the Russian people and if this continues, we will be left without the most important thing: Russia ," Prigozhin said in a message.
