Advisor to the President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has warned of the potential dangers of considering a ceasefire and freezing the ongoing war in Ukraine.
In a recent tweet, Mykhailo Podolyak expressed concern that such a scenario under the current mood would mean the victory of Russia and the triumph of Vladimir Putin.
Podolyak stressed that international law may lose its authority, giving way to a "law of the jungle" where conflicts become tools for political ends.
He argued that this could lead to increased chaos and conflict around the world. Moreover, Podolyak warned that freezing the war would not ease the suffering of the Ukrainian people.
Instead, he suggested that if Moscow retains control over part of Ukraine and takes a break, it could be preparing for a more intense conflict in the future.
He asserted that a shattered Ukraine will face this potential next round of fighting in a weaker position unless there is a change in strategy.
