The Ministry of Defense of China has recently announced that the second joint military secondary schools between China and Saudi Arabia are expected to start next month.
Foreign media reports that high schools, called Blue Sword 2023, will start in October in Guangdong, a southern Chinese province.
"This joint training focuses on overseas maritime counter-terrorism operations, sniping drills, boat driving, helicopter landing and rescue," Defense Ministry spokesman Wu Qian told a news conference.
The two forces conducted joint naval exercises in 2019, according to the official Saudi News Agency.
" They intend to deepen the practical and friendly cooperation between the two armies and to improve the level of practical training of the troops", the spokesman of the Ministry of Defense said, among other things.
The high schools will be developed at a time when China is seeking to strengthen its ties with Riyadh and has taken on a new mediating role in the Middle East.
Meanwhile, we recall that this year Beijing helped mediate an agreement between Saudi Arabia and Iran, two longtime rivals, that resulted in the restoration of their ties and the reopening of each country's embassies with the other.
