The Secretary General of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, made a surprise visit to Kiev, where he emphasized that the Ukrainian forces were "gradually gaining ground" in their counterattack against the Russian forces.
In a joint conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Stoltenberg said that Russian troops are fighting for Moscow's "imperial illusions".
He also announced that NATO has now signed total contracts with arms companies worth 2.4 billion euros for basic ammunition, of which 1 billion euros are firm orders.
Foreign media reports that he has stressed that he will allow NATO members to replenish their depleted stockpiles, while at the same time continuing to supply Ukraine with ammunition, which is a key factor in the war.
He also condemned the Russian attacks near Ukraine's border with NATO member Romania.
He stressed that there is no evidence that these attacks were a deliberate attack on Romania, but called them "reckless" and "destabilizing".
