A 62-year-old woman was found unconscious and bleeding by police after her ex-husband attacked her with a knife in the face in the northern part of Milan, Italy.
The victim had multiple wounds to her face, most likely caused by a knife. She was transported by ambulance to Niguarda Hospital.
Local police officers rescued him from the road at around 9:50 a.m. However, the victim may have been injured at home, considering he lives nearby and then went out into the street to seek help.
The investigation has been entrusted to the carabinieri, who are trying to reconstruct the circumstances of the attack. Investigators are also working to find the woman's ex-husband, who was reportedly seen leaving on a scooter after the stabbing.
"I heard a scream, I looked outside and there was a girl looking outside who said to me: 'They beat her so badly! There's so much blood, they hurt her!'" Antonietta, a neighbor of the woman, told reporters.
“She told me he beat her to death. She didn’t see that he had a knife in his hand, she just told me he beat her to death. The man fled on his scooter, but she didn’t see his face, he was wearing a helmet, he was all covered in blood,” she added. Another witness spoke of a wiretap “that lasted a month, her ex-husband had been waiting here for a month.”
Meanwhile, the Milan Public Prosecutor's Office has not filed any complaints of abuse or other charges against the 62-year-old woman who attacked her 64-year-old husband in Bruzzano. Investigations are underway to determine whether the woman had expressed fear of possible violence from her ex-husband in other ways. According to judicial sources, the man and woman had separated three years ago for financial reasons.
According to medical sources, she suffered "multiple stab wounds, the most severe of which was to the neck with serious damage to the veins."
She arrived in cardiac arrest at Niguarda Hospital, where she was taken to the operating room.
