Tough deadlines, signals of agreement and a symbolic visit to Graceland accompany the latest developments in the US-Iran conflict

According to BBC reporting, US President Donald Trump's recent activities reflect an unusual combination of military pressure and diplomatic efforts in the conflict with Iran.

On Friday, Trump declared that the US war against Iran was “coming to an end.” The following day, he gave Iran a 48-hour ultimatum to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, warning of new air strikes if the demand was not met.

Meanwhile, the US president continued his usual activities, playing golf and staying at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida. On Monday morning, he declared that talks with Iran were "constructive", before traveling to Memphis, where he gave a speech and visited Graceland, the historic mansion of Elvis Presley.

On the ground, the situation remains tense. The US and Israel continue airstrikes on Iranian targets, while Iran continues to launch missiles and drones at US forces and their allies in the Middle East. Traffic in the Strait of Hormuz remains restricted.

Saturday's ultimatum was interpreted as a direct warning: if Iran does not guarantee freedom of navigation, the US will strike the country's energy infrastructure. In response, Iran threatened to target regional energy and water infrastructure, increasing the risk of escalating the conflict.

However, on Monday, Trump announced a temporary suspension of the strikes, citing contacts with an Iranian leader, unconfirmed by Tehran. He said there were "significant points of agreement" and that both sides expressed interest in a deal.

During the day, the US president stressed that talks were going "very, very well" and gave Iran "one last chance" to stop threatening the US and its allies.

At the same time, reports of a phone call between Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, as well as the possibility of direct talks with Iran, suggest that diplomatic channels are active, although details remain limited.

Iranian state media interpreted the suspension of attacks as a US withdrawal, while Iranian officials denied that any meaningful talks had taken place. Trump cited “15 points of agreement” but offered no concrete clarification.

The reaction of the markets was immediate: US stock markets rose and global oil prices fell, reflecting hope for a diplomatic solution.

Trump is back in Washington, where a new five-day deadline for a decision on attacks on Iranian energy infrastructure is expected to begin. The situation remains unclear, and it remains to be seen whether the latest developments represent real progress or a temporary postponement of decisions.
