Three days after the shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson outside a Hilton hotel in Manhattan, police still do not know the identity or whereabouts of the shooter.
Footage of the attack, which happened around 6:45 a.m. Wednesday before UnitedHealthcare's annual investor conference, shows the suspect with a gray backpack.
On Friday, investigators said they found the backpack in Central Park after a search of a wide area of lakes, ponds, meadows, playgrounds and forests.
NBC News said the bag will be sent unopened to a lab to see if it is related to the shooting and if it contains any useful evidence.
It comes after police said they believe the suspect may have left New York City on a bus shortly after the shooting.
The suspect concealed his identity with a mask throughout his time in the city and appeared to pay with cash at the establishments where he was caught on camera.
Meanwhile, the FBI said it is offering a reward of up to $50,000 for information "leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual responsible for this crime."
