Good news from the Strait of Hormuz. Iran will "facilitate and expedite" the passage of humanitarian aid through this strait, declared the Iranian ambassador to the United Nations, Ali Bahreini.
According to him, Tehran has accepted a UN request to guarantee the safe passage of humanitarian and agricultural shipments through this strategically important waterway.
In a post on the X platform, Bahrain said that this measure reflects Iran's continued commitment to supporting humanitarian efforts and ensuring that essential aid reaches people in need without delay.
Earlier, the UN announced the creation of a working group to design a mechanism that will keep trade flowing through the Strait of Hormuz.
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world's most important energy corridors. Under normal conditions, about a fifth of the world's oil and liquefied natural gas supplies pass through it. Its effective closure by Iran since the start of the war has caused difficulties in global supply chains and increased prices.
