The deputy of the Democratic Party in Italy, Rachele Scarpa, speaking about the pact signed between Prime Minister Edi Rama and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni for the refugee camp in Shengjin, said that the project has failed.
Two days ago, the judges of the Immigration Section of the Court of Rome decided that the 12 immigrants brought to Albania should be returned to Italy, even though their requests for asylum had been rejected.
Invited to the show "Review" in Euronews Albania, she described this decision as an inevitable consequence of the decisions of the European Court, pointing out that the Italian government must face the consequences of this project.
Scarpa also mentioned the high costs for this project, stressing that so far about 250-290 thousand euros have been spent on the transport of these 16 people, bringing the total value of expenses for refugees to about 800 million euros for five years.
"Something happened that we could expect by reading the decision of the European Court, after that decision it was inevitable that the Italian judges would choose to obey it and declare the detention of these 12 people illegal. The statement made by Meloni was propaganda of these poor immigrants, who did not understand that they were going to flee from Italy, until the moment they boarded the ship. The decision of the court is closely related to that of the European Union, therefore this is the proof that this whole project that Rama and Meloni invented was an invention that will create big problems in our government, it is already creating them.
We cannot only talk about lek, we cannot accept that all these immigrants die at sea because of the propaganda of the right, which tries to point the finger at foreigners. We cannot lose focus from the humanitarian aspect. What we estimate is that in 5 years it is calculated to spend 800 million euros. As for the travel of these 16 people, about 250-290 thousand euros were spent, almost 18 thousand euros per person ", said Scarpa.
