World leaders gather in Munich, agenda for discussions of 60 heads of state

The 62nd Munich Security Conference continues today, February 14, with a program focused on key international security challenges. Political leaders and heads of global institutions will deliver speeches and participate in panel discussions on current geopolitical developments.

Keynote speakers include US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The conference will also feature UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

Marco Rubio and Wang Yi will present their countries' positions on their role in the international arena. Meanwhile, Volodymyr Zelensky and Mark Rutte will discuss in a panel on ways to provide long-term support for Ukraine.

Keir Starmer and Ursula von der Leyen will hold a discussion on using political influence in the face of global tensions. The prime ministers of Denmark and Finland, together with representatives of Spain, will address the issue of strengthening transnational security.

The program also includes María Corina Machado, a Venezuelan opposition figure and Nobel Prize winner, who will speak about the latest developments in her country.

The conference is taking place at the Bayerischer Hof Hotel in Munich, Germany. Organizers announce that over 60 heads of state and government, around 50 heads of international organizations and representatives from more than 115 countries are participating in this edition.

On the first day, French President Emmanuel Macron called for a stronger Europe, while German Chancellor Friedrich Merz stressed that relations between Europe and the United States are facing difficulties.

The second day of the conference is expected to focus on global security challenges, the role of great powers, and the prospect of international support for Ukraine.
