Pope Francis recently caused quite a stir by calling for peace in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. Remembering that "negotiation is not surrender", the Holy Father, in this case, turned above all to Kiev to think of a real way out of a war that now seems strategically frozen.
The Holy Father does not believe in the inevitability of a "piecemeal World War III", as he defined the number of crises, complex scenarios and local and regional wars that have multiplied since his ascension to the papal throne in 2013. A "Bergoglio doctrine" for peace

Step by step, crisis after crisis, from the role in 2013 to stop the Western attacks in Syria, to that in 2015 to the Cuban-American détente, from the mediation in the Central African Republic and South Sudan to the one persistently sought in Ukraine, Francis has launched the "Bergoglio doctrine", a Catholic path to diplomacy, a "geopolitics of mercy" designed towards peace, which combines the result of the Catholic vision of international relations (universal vocation, commitment to the compensation of rivalries, indirect openness to dialogue) with an essential realism based on few and clear cornerstones.

Aware that the "end of peace" caused by the fall of the Soviet Union may lead, in its deterioration, to an end of history much more tragic than that described by Francis Fukuyama and always against the tide, builder of bridges even before the Pope , Bergoglio offers a path against the inevitability of war.
