Drone and missile attacks have been reported near the United States embassy in Baghdad, in what is being described as the most intense attack since the start of the conflict in the Middle East.
At the same time, the United Arab Emirates reopened its airspace after temporarily closing it due to threats from Iran with missiles and drones. Explosions were also heard in Dubai and Doha, Qatar, in the early hours of the morning.
Another drone attack set fire to a fuel depot in Fujairah, a target that has been attacked several times before on the country's east coast, facing the Gulf of Oman. Authorities reported no injuries.
Former US President Donald Trump has reiterated his call for other countries, especially NATO allies, to contribute to securing the Strait of Hormuz. He expressed surprise at the lack of willingness of some world leaders to commit to protecting this strategic oil shipping route.
On the other hand, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz stated that this conflict "is not an issue for NATO," while NATO itself announced that the allies have intensified efforts to increase security in the Mediterranean region.
Meanwhile, the leaders of the United Kingdom, Canada, France, Germany and Italy issued a joint statement, warning that a major Israeli ground offensive in Lebanon would bring "devastating humanitarian consequences."
Earlier, the Israeli military had announced the launch of a broad wave of attacks on several cities, including Tehran, Shiraz and Tabriz in Iran, as well as Beirut in Lebanon.
