The war in Iran destroys Gulf tourism, $600 million in losses per day!

The conflict in Iran is costing international visitors at least $600 million a day to the Middle East's travel and tourism sectors, according to initial estimates from the World Travel and Tourism Council.

A major factor in this is the closure of major regional aviation hubs in the region, including Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha and Bahrain, which together typically process more than 500,000 passengers each day.

But research from the travel body into previous crises shows that tourism demand after security-related incidents, with the right response, can recover in just two months.

With most airspace in the region closed since the start of the war due to concerns about missiles and drones, airlines have been forced to cancel, reschedule and redirect thousands of flights.

Around 300,000 Britons were in affected areas of the Middle East before a mix of commercial and government-chartered flights began bringing them home last week.
