Russia has attacked Ukraine with 32 drones this morning, most of which were headed for Kiev, Ukrainian military officials reported. The Air Defense of Ukraine shot down 25 of them, without giving details about the other seven drones.
The Russian airstrikes come as Ukrainian leaders are appealing to the West for additional support to repel the Russian invasion.
The General Staff of the Ukrainian army said that "the Russian government attacked Ukraine with 32 kamikaze drones... 25 of which were destroyed by the Ukrainian air defense forces."
"The drones entered the capital in groups and from different directions," said Sergiy Popko, head of the Kyiv City Military Administration.
Their debris fell in several neighborhoods, damaging an apartment in a multi-story building, as well as roads and power lines, he added, saying one person was injured.
Russia systematically attacked Ukrainian cities early in the invasion that began last year, but mass attacks have become less frequent as Moscow's reserves dwindle and Ukraine has beefed up its air defenses.
Last month, Kiev destroyed more than 20 Russian drones and missiles in what it described as the most powerful attack on the capital since the spring.
